Can someone port Rockboy to the Ondio builds?
« on: February 26, 2007, 07:30:48 PM »
Now that Rockboy lets users configure key mappings, can't it be ported to Ondio?

The Ondio (and all the Archos devices) are much too slow to run Rockboy.

It is in the other Archos builds though... I heard that it's just not fun playing it.

The main problem on Ondio is the lack of buttons but I do not know if the current implementation of configurable buttons is enough.

In my opinion it's not really worth the effort to work very hard for a solution while knowing (from the other Archos) that it won't work well in the end.

Ondio has a faster processor than Archos Recorder, a device that Rockboy works on, so Rockboy would perform better on Ondio.

Ondio even has the same screen size as Recorder, so I don't think porting it would be that difficult other than adding a new key configuration.

I believe Rockboy exists on the Recorder more as a technical demonstration than with any expectation that it's playable.

So can't the same be done for the Ondio?

Feel free. It's not likely to be even reasonably playable, and probably not worth the time to do it.
