audio drop outs

I so badly want Rockbox to work but I get severe audio drop outs on my iPod Mini 1G.  I had no trouble installing the software and all the potential problem controls are off such as peak meters, EQ, etc.  I am playing Apple Lossless files fine until I do anything with the control wheel such as scan ahead or any other function.  After that the drop outs begin a a rate of every 10 seconds for a second or two.  I tried upping the skip buffer and disk spin down time but no change.  Dog gone it, I had such high hopes.  Anyone else been here?

The buffer won't help, and I doubt the disk spin down will either.

I suspect that rockbox is just a bit too unoptimized for your poor little mini.  It still skips sometimes on my 5G (though I honestly can't think of the last time it did).
