Some general Gigabeat install questions.

GodEater:
I'm really sorry you've decided to give up with rockbox :(

You might like to try downloading the "Rbutil" tool and trying that - it's recently acquired the ability to install rockbox on all our platforms at the click of a button or two. It might be able to sort out your gigabeat for you.

Alternatively - find someone who's a bit more comfortable with computer things than you are and let them give it a go - I'm convinced your gigabeat isn't beyond hope.

legion:
ok, i downloaded the file u just posted.

on the rockbox install page i installed rockbox, then the fonts, but when i tried to install the bootloader it errored out -- said it could not find the fwimg/gwimg01.dat .

wait

now that i am looking back i once again realize i dont have gbsystem on my gigabeat again.

in the root of my player i have :rbutil, bootsplash, rockbox, .rockbox, bootsplash raw, rbutil config settings, and fwimg01 ---it wont let me open the fwimg01 though .

what do i have that i shouldnt and what do i not have that i should ?

once again ---THANK YOU for your help.

Nate!:
Oh, it seems you are so close!
* Now what you need to do is download the attached zip file.
 * It's actually a zip file, so you will need to rename it to  GBSYSTEM.zip.  (Minus the .txt at the end.)
* Unzip the zip file to the to the root of your Gigabeat.  (Unzip to K:\ where K:\ is the drive letter of your Gigabeat.)
* You can either run the rbutil again and let it copy your FWIMG01.DAT file to the K:\GBSYSTEM\FWIMG\ directory.  Or you can copy it there yourself.

Disconnect the Gigabeat from your PC and the AC adapter.  Switch the battery slider off and  then on again.  Then power it back up again.  (Make sure the battery switch on the bottom is set to on.)

You should boot into Rockbox!
