iriver firmware
« on: February 19, 2007, 05:27:10 PM »
I'm trying to install Rockbox on my US v1.04 iriver 320. I hate to sound dumb but I have been unable to find the proper place to download a European or other suitable firmware so as to install the patcher. I've looked on the European web site for iriver but hav been unable to find any of the firmware mentioned in the instructions. I can find a v1.29 but not a v1.29 J or K. Could you possibly supply me with a url for one of these firmward downloads.

Thanks
Shelley

Did you read the wiki? Or the manual?

If you look under the list of links that doesn't work, there is a link to Rashers page with working downloads...

Hate to say it but I'm a 62 year old insurance adjuster that spends hours per day settling claims that I complete on a computer and to this day I've never heard of a "WIKI". Is that some kind of abbreviation? If so perhaps spelling it out would be helpful. I was going through the manual line by line while trying to install this program. Have I read all of the manual yet? No not really. I don't need to clutter my brain with how to run the program till I manage to get it installed. I did read the installation section.

Anyway, your link solved all of my immediate problems. Back in the "Commodore 64" days I was fairly computer savy. But I must admit that technology has run me down like a bulldozer over a snail.

Thanks again for the help.

Wiki isn't actually an abbreviation. It's a term derived from a Hawaiian word that roughly refers to 'collaborative websites' usually ones that the public can adjust.

It's fairly common on the internet these days with the wide spread of Wikipedia, though it's quite understandable if someone has never heard of it.

You will notice, though, that on the link bar to the left, one of them is labelled 'wiki' and is categorized under documentation.

I got Rockbox installed and it sorta works, But.... the screen display has a tiny font and no graphics at all. I did download and install a font package.

I love the way the files work with Windows Explorer.

Thanks

The system font is quite small?  Did you try loading any of the fonts in the fonts package?  There are a number of fonts to choose from in a variety of sizes.

Once you have downloaded and installed the font package, go to the menu and select browse themes, then pick one.  I suggest iCatcher or iAmp.  This will make your player look 'nicer' (bigger fonts, better WPS) and is all in the manual!

I always go to the iriver website - www.iriver.com . Much easier than trying to fiddle with local sites.
