Adding and Viewing music problem

(1/2) > >>

ivet:
I am having a problem adding and viewing my music on my video ipod.

This is the order I have to play music on my ipod.

1) Once I turn on my ipod rockbox comes on.
2) I get a list of the following:
   -Artist
   -Album
   -Genre
   -Composer.....etc....
3) I click Artist and then get this:
    -
    - A BLANK SPACE
    - 3 Doors Down
    - 5.6.7.8's
    -
    - rest of artists....etc...
4) For example I will click 3 doors down, pick one of their albums, and then I get the same songs doubled. Two of them (the repeated ones) dont work and have a tag with: (ERR) / Playlists/ 3 doors down......

*At some points when I want to change songs I get:
Erase dynamic playlist?
SELECT= yes
Any other= no

I cant change the song or anything.

*Also when I click select when I song is playing then click ID3 tags and scroll down my music is playing from iPod_control.

I am so sorry this is such a long post but can someone please help me fix this huge problem? I have no idea what to do :o

ivet:
Sorry for 3) those blank spaces should be:

- < All tracks >
and
- < Untagged >

*when i played a song just now it started and then i got this:

data abort
at 400000B0

ivet:
Im sorry for all the questions. I turned it off and back on and its okay, the data abort went away.

My main question is where is the [path] that is showed in the ID3 tags info?

For example, where is:
/iPod/Control/Music/F29/NFQC.mp3

in my ipod/rockbox folders when i plug them in through my usb after clicking the (f:) removable device which is my ipod button.

and why cant i play songs ang get this insteaderase dynamic playlist
selet=yes
any other= no

*and yet press any other buttons and it still does not work.

I know this is a little confusing, reply back if you dont understand what im trying to explain.

Febs:
1.  When you select songs using the Database, Rockbox creates a playlist for you.  This is known as a dynamic playlist.  When you select a different song using the database, Rockbox will warn you before erasing the existing playlist and starting a new one.

If you would like to turn this feature off, you can do so using the following setting:

Main Menu --> Playlist Options --> Warn When Erasing Dynamic Playlist --> No

If you want to keep this warning, just press the Select button when instructed to do so.  (As I'm sure you're aware from reading the Rockbox Manual, the "Select" button is the center button on your iPod.)

2.  As for your other question:

You have apparently loaded your music through iTunes.  iTunes renames your files and puts them into random directories.  (You can get some more information in this FAQ).

You can avoid this by simply dragging and dropping music onto your player.  If you do so, however, the music will be available only to Rockbox.  The original firmware will not recognize it.

Thankyou for your reply Febs!

If i do, do this where do i drag and drop the music? Do I drop it into the

1) .rockbox folder
or
2) playlists folder, and if so do i have to make individual folders by artists-->albums-->tracks?
