Yesterday i received my 40gb 4th-gen ipod. I ordered it with the sole intention of using it for Rockbox. I get everything set up and installed and it works great. The only problem is that i just got the thing and the battery was running low, so i need to recharge it.
So i hooked it to my computer via USB to charge. But instead of going to the usual "Do Not Disconnect" screen, it goes to a large charging battery icon and my computer doesn't recognize the ipod as a drive. My friend points out that the battery icon on the ipod should be moving to indicate that it's charging, but it's just a static picture. And when i unhook the USB cable, i have to reset the ipod. It boots back up into Rockbox and i check the battery power, and it's still at a very low percentage, even after being plugged in to the USB charger all night. Does anyone know what's wrong here? Is the ipod freezing up every time it goes to the charging battery icon?
Oh yeah, something else that seems weird is that it randomly seems to switch between the battery icon and the "Do Not Disconnect" screen
Any help or info on this would be great
*yes, i looked through all the battery-related topics, but i couldn't find one that had a situation like this
