The manual does include all the steps. Every single one of them. The IpodInstallationBeta page is a completely new method, different from the manual, but the step you did with -wf is not part of either install process. Which is why it's not in the manual.

I understand that, but all the pdf manual said was to install the boot loader, nothing about the firmware, i had to install that myself. It worked, just not updating, so no it'll be fine thanks.

The section telling you to install the firmware is BEFORE the bootloader section.

Perhaps you should take another look, because I can assure you that the PDF manual DOES discuss installing the firmware.
