iPod Linux's video player....
donjworks:
Hello,
I was over at iPod Linux's website, and I noticed that there video player (MV Player) is much better than ours (No offence Mpeg Player folk). Would it be possible to istall this plugin with Rockbox, or somthing of the sort?? And why dont we here at rockbox have a nice video player, like them?
Thanks,
Donald J
Llorean:
A) Our video player works on several platforms, not just iPods.
B) Our video uses a standard format (MPEG2).
C) I notice that you aren't volunteering to work on it, just complaining that it doesn't work.
Between those three points you'll see the answers to the questions you've asked.
Bagder:
In what ways is it "much better" anyway? I'm curious.
linuxstb:
I've never tried it (so I could be misinformed - please someone correct me if I'm wrong), but from what I've read, mv_player only manages around 10fps-15fps on the Nano, and that's with uncompressed audio.
On the Nano, mpegplayer can manage almost 30fps with MP3 audio... So I'm not sure what criteria you're using to judge mv_player as "better".
But yes, mv_player does have the obvious advantage that it's actually finished.

May I add one very important point to Llorean's list...
D) Rockbox is about music! ;)
So the main focus is to make everything that relates to music playback, playlist handling and so on better. Video is a nice extra but has a lower priority and as you can tell from linuxstb's post: rockbox's mpeg video player isn't finished yet.
