Config.cfg Persistent Settings?

(1/2) > >>

vak01:
Just joined so maybe asking redundant questions eventhough I did search the wiki and fourms for answers.

I recall a few builds ago that if you placed ~ in front of something in the config.cfg file, the setting would be "persistent", i.e. that no matter what setting you left the device in, the value in the config.cfg would survive the shutdown/startup sequence.

I may have been in error but if not, where is the ~ placed? In front of the variable, for example in front of Volume: or in front of the specific value like -40db?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Unfortunately, you picked up on something that was only present for a couple of days :(

It has been superceded by using a separate file - fixed.cfg

Just put the config lines you want to be loaded at startup in the file and put it in the .rockbox folder and it will do just what you want...

Mine just contains

volume: -35

Wow, that was fast! Thanks. I'll try that. I know that I'm going to be asking a port-specific question and if that's inappropriate kill this as necessary but:

The Toshiba Gigabeat side led lighting fix seems to be lost between power cycles. Is this a setting that can be "persistent-ized" by using this fix file?

Again, thanks for the comments and help AND speed in reply!

bascule:
I don't know.

But if it's a patch (or a patched build), then probably not...

You can always just try it.

Firstly, it wasn't even 'a couple days' on the ~ thing. It was more or less one day. I think it made it into one daily build, and that was it. :)

As for the side LEDs in the Gigabeat, the option for them is in the 'Debug' menu. Nothing there should be saved at this time. I'm not sure why they put it there, but that's why it doesn't get saved.
