iPod Photo Color freezes during playback

iPod Photo (Color) locks up during playback.
I have experienced this with both the stable and daily builds. (All default settings.)
Same for MP3, OGG and FLAC.
Freezing times vary from 5 minutes up until 2 hours.
Empty, Medium, and Full battery charges seem to make no difference.
Using audio cable out to my stereo, not headphones.

Not sure if there is any further debugging info that may be of help...

(I know there are about 100 threads about freezing and that daily builds are at your own risk, but this may be specific to my model so I started a new topic - apologies in advance)

Sorry, which stable builds?  Rockbox hasn't been released for anything other than Archos.  The two types of build are current (aka SVN), and archived (the old daily), which is just a SVN/current build taken at a specific time each day.

As I understand it, the photo suffers from the frequency scaling bug (please correct me if wrong), so you might want to try a unsupported unofficial build that disables it.  They are available from the unofficial builds forum - I think the one you want is Mikeage's

You're right; it appears I was mistaken. Thanks for your advice, I'll try Mikeage's build and see what happens.

EDIT: Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. The Mikeage unofficial build is working just fine for me with no freeze-ups. The iPod color seems like sort of the bastard middle-child member of the iPod family... hopefully someone will solve this in a future version of rockbox  :)

Glad it works - I'm sure it will be fixed at some point, but the problem with the iPods is that they are completely undocumented hardware wise, so the develpers are working in the dark.  This is the same reason that iPods have reduced battery life.  On the other rockbox targets (e.g. iRivers), the battery life is greater than the OF, and I haven't experienced a lockup on my H140 in a year or more.
