4G iPod Greyscale Frozen, Won't Turn Off Or Reset

Can any one tell me if it is worth having  RB on a iPod 4G.
Was working fine for a while now it is frozen with "Pause" on the screen
and the backlight on and no way of powering it down without pulling it apart.
How reliable is it on 4G iPod Greyscale ?
What is the most reliable firmware version for it ?
Maybe drill a whole in the side for reset switch !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any help would be much appreciated.

Honestly, it's very hard to want to help you when you can't be bothered to follow the posting guidelines.

Turn on the hold switch, turn off the hold switch, hold Menu+Select for several seconds (if your fingers wiggle it can take longer, give it as much as 30 seconds).

If this fails, do it again.

Eventually, it will work.
