iPod 5th Gen uninstallation

(1/2) > >>

MattB17:
I have an iPod 5th Gen and i used the Rockbox Installer v. 7.7.

I just now uninstalled it using the same program and then ejected the ipod from my pc.  Now, my ipod will not fully boot.  It keeps booting up with the Apple Logo on the screen and then restarting the processs... it never makes it to the main menu.  Is there any way to save this ipod???? I've tried pluging it back into my computer and it won't recognize it.  Also, i've tried holding the Menu/center buttons on the ipod and all it does is restarted it and does the same thing.... anything you guys can do to help me out would be amazing. thanks in advance

linuxstb:
There is no Rockbox installer, so whatever software you used wasn't part of the Rockbox project, but written by a third-party.  You should ask that person for help.

But the general advice is: hold MENU+SELECT to reboot, then immediately hold SELECT+PLAY to force your ipod into disk mode, then connect to your computer, and pray that itunes will recognise it and restore.

problem solved... that installer was from several months ago... so who knows maybe that was the problem... but any ways... for the last hour i've been toying with installing and uninstalling rockbox and finally everything is back to normal without any loss of music.  woohoo!

i did the reset then held SELECT+PLAY and it went into disk mode, opened iTunes and i clicked restore. it was restoring and when it was almost done it came up with an error message saying it couldnt complete the restore for some reason. all my music is gone. but my settings on my ipod (like backlight and eq and stuff) are the same. and now itunes wont recognize the iPod to either complete the restore or resync all my music to it. i hope i didnt brick it. in disk mode when i click on a folder (such as notes or calendar) it says "the file or directory is corrupted or unreadable". i am mad. please help.

GodEater:
Put the iPod back into disk mode again - connect it to your computer, and run chkdsk on it. It sounds like you've got a corrupted file system on it.
