vmware and outdated arm-elf-gcc

I just got a new ipod and so was getting ready to buckle down with my old vmware setup to begin playing with svn. I happened by the wiki page and noticed you added the note from Llorean warning about outdated outdated arm-elf-gcc....

I'm not so experienced with all this. Can I just unpack the 4.0.3 file from http://download.rockbox.org/cygwin/release/arm-elf-gcc/ into the right place in my filesystem (and do I need to remove the old version?) or should I do apt-get for something?

Muuuuch appreciated.

You either run tools/rockboxdev.sh to get a new one built and installed, or you wait for an update vmware image to appear.

Just popping in to say that the VMware wiki page has been updated with a new image.

ryran:
Oh! Thanks to both of you. :)

One question: I see there are three mirrors, but is any help needed hosting the image? I'd be glad to add myself as a mirror if it might be needed. I've got about 40gb/mo in bandwidth I'm not using.

I don't think there's any immediate hosting problem, but then again I don't think it would hurt with another mirror...
