Cannot open loader image file bootloader-video.bin   what did i do wrong?
i am on step E on this link http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/IpodInstallation#a_Download_the_required_files
any help would be GREATLY appreciated

Is the file "bootloader-video.bin" in the directory you're running the command from?  If not, thats probably why it can't find it.

ummm....idk but i jsut tried downloading it again and the link is broken so...if you can find an alternate one... =D

Just noticed you're using the old instructions.  The link was taken down to prevent people from trying to follow them.

Check this instead:

I think the download server was temporarily unavailable last night - the files have not been taken down.

The old install instructions are still (until bugs are fixed) required for successful dual-booting on the 4g greyscale and both generations of mini.

But for the video ipod, you're right -  the new (as of yesterday) instructions at the IpodInstallationBeta wiki page should be followed.

1.  Please follow our posting guidelines, which require the use of actual words and not abbreviations like "idk" and "?"

2.  The link that Saratoga gave you does not require you to choose from different bootloaders.  It requires you only to run the latest version of ipodpatcher.  Just follow the link on that page.

Step 2: Install the bootloader
In order to make your iPod load and execute the Rockbox firmware you have just installed, you will need to install the Rockbox bootloader. Unless bugs are found in the bootloader code, or significant new feature are added, you will only have to perform this step once.

These steps use the ipodpatcher tool. Source code is available in the Rockbox SVN (see UsingSVN).

If you actually read the instructions, it does not tell you to download a bootloader.

And so there is no doubt, these are the instructions for Windows:

a) Bootloader installation from Windows

   1. Make sure you are logged into your computer as Administrator, or a user with Administrator privileges and connect your ipod.
   2. Download ipodpatcher.exe and run it.
   3. If all has gone well, you should see some information displayed about your ipod and a message asking you if you wish to install the Rockbox bootloader. Press y followed by ENTER, and ipodpatcher will now install the bootloader. After a short time you should see the message "[INFO] Bootloader installed successfully." Press ENTER again to exit ipodpatcher.
   4. Disconnect your ipod in the usual way. The bootloader is now installed.

Just follow those instructions step-by-step.
