Where To Place Music/Video Directories
« on: February 10, 2007, 03:27:59 PM »
I have used the search fuction on the forum and also looked through the Rockbox manual regarding the best place to make the music & video directories on the iAudio player (and have failed to find anything), do I make them:

/.rockbox
/music
/video

Or do I place them as such:

/.rockbox/music
/.rockbox/video

I have tried both of these (mp3 files play both ways) but am not sure which is the right convention with the iAudio, I would tend to think it is the first option that is right, so my question is, which option is the correct way?

Many thanks for your help.

The correct way is "however you want it."

Most people prefer the first way.

Also, please read the POSTING IN THIS FORUM in a category before posting there.

i'd say that second option is a perverted one (though i would not say incorrect since user have full rights to put anything "however hr wantd it.")

1) will you once deinstall Rockbox - won't you thrash music as well ?
2) won’t there one day be some any plugin that will use the same-named folder and make a names clash ? Logically, anything under .rockbox is firmware or files for firmware.
3) dot-files are hidden files (in unix manner), so i think You would be hard to copy files there when connecting player to computer running Mac Os / Linux / BSD / etc
