H340: USB charge mode (broken again?)
Decuman:
Has anyone noticed that the latest H3XX builds do not support USB charge while playing music anymore? What happened to that feature and why it is really necessary to brake and fix it that often? ??? Any thoughts?
LinusN:
We added the USB charging feature exactly 1 week ago. How many times did we break it since then? Please enlighten me.
Also, why do you think we introduce bugs intentionally? You won't get more for your money by being rude.

Here is my previous message regarding it so it is not the first time I encounter the problem: http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=7350.msg58373;topicseen#msg58373
I really appriciate your work on Rockbox software development and never wanted to offend anybody or be rude... but it is not that easy (as for me) to track new features added. Moreover, I thought if a new altering feature is added it should work the old way by default and only in case of necessity you can switch to another mode when you need it. Just to avoid dumb users like me ask stupid questions when something is changed :)
What are the benefits of connecting a player to USB without any charging or file transferring? Currently (as I understand) when the player is connected to USB by pressing record button and inserting USB plug it shows "power connected" icon but there is no actual connection to the power neither you can transfer or browse your files. Right?
Again, sincerely I do not want to be rude here... just want to know how to get my player + rockbox work in a proper way.

The first time you mentioned it, Rockbox didn't even have USB charging at all. The Hold-REC trick was to boot the original firmware and let it handle the USB charging.
Last week we added the possibility to charge from USB with Rockbox. You must set the "Charge During USB Connection" to enable it.

Well, since Rockbox hasn't even had USB charging until last week, there is no "old way".

I don't really know why it wouldn't charge in that case. I don't know much about how the original firmware works.

We have http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/MajorChanges which is even linked on the front page (the "change log" link). Should be sufficient, and if that tells "usb charging support added" this also implies it hasn't been there before.
Really, no big deal checking out what new features got added.
