Charging from USB Dock-like

I've been taking Rockbox for a test run and so far I've really been enjoying.

The one thing that I cannot figure out is the battery / charging situation.  I have one of these iHome things that I like to use that used to charge the iPod on Apple's firmware, but now my suspicion is that it is not (I'm going to let it sit overnight and see what happens).  

I explored into the debug menu and it tells me this:
USB pwr: present
EXT pwr: absent
Battery: charging
Dock mode: enabled
Headphone: connected

However, it does not give me the usual feedback on all other screens -- they show my battery draining, even though it usually stays constant.  My concern is that the iPod is just drawing from the iHome now, but not charging from it.

Anyone know how to get this work?

the ihome works fine with my rockbox 80gb with recent build.
The remote doesn't work, but it still charges, and audio output goes through it.

I just with the same could be said for my alpine car audio ipod adapter!
