iPod 5G 60 GB Mac Terminal Help
(1/1)
buckstar2002:
Hi...I am having some problems in step 7 of the installation which is backing up the ipod firmware partition. In terminal, I type "./ipodpatcher /dev/disk6s3 -r bootpartition.bin" and I get the error "-bash: ./ipodpatcher: Permission denied"....I am the only user on the computer and thus the administrator. I follwed all the steps up until this point. I am using Mac OS 10.4.8. I don't know what's wrong! Please help....thanks

This does not belong in the New Ports forum... I'm moving it to Apple Installation.

Try the command "chmod +x ipodpatcher" - this tells your Mac that the ipodpatcher file you downloaded is an executable program.

Also - that device (/dev/disk6s3) is wrong - that's not the ipod device, that's a partition on it. So once you've got the permissions sorted you need to make sure you're using the right device name. Make sure you use "./ipodpatcher --scan" first - that'll give you the right device name.
