After Installing Rockbox Cannot Load Original OS!
Turok:
Is it possible to give a short status report!? It seems that the flyspray won't be updated... :-\
Or can I help to speed up the process? ;)
linuxstb:
Can mini 1st/2nd gen and 4g grayscale users try the following ipodpatcher (Windows version)?
http://www.davechapman.f2s.com/rockbox/ipodpatcher-0.9-win32.zip
Note that this version of the bootloader (which if it works will be the next release) doesn't display any messages on the screen unless an error has occurred.
Just unzip it, and double-click on the extracted ipodpatcher.exe. You'll be prompted if you want to install the bootloader.
Then boot with the hold switch turned on and let me know if the Apple firmware starts. If so, also test with the latest Rockbox Current Build and let me know if audio playback is working.
Thanks.
EDIT: Here's a Mac OS X version - http://www.davechapman.f2s.com/rockbox/ipodpatcher-0.9-dmg
and Linux - http://www.davechapman.f2s.com/rockbox/ipodpatcher-0.9-linux32.zip
mikeage:
4g grayscale, ipodpatcher 0.9, latest svn (r12645)
Boots into Apple with the hold switch set.
Rockbox boots just fine, and plays music!
OS Stacks confirms most tasts are running on the main processor; main and codec are running on the coprocessor.
[incidently, I see that boost_counter is set to 3 on boot; I thought it was only supposed to be 0 or 1 in normal operation? Is that from DirCache / database scanning? After a while, it drops to 0, and then fluctuates between 0 and 1]
All hail Dave Chapman!

The odd thing is that I didn't fix the bug - I made some unrelated changes and then someone reported it had started to load the Apple firmware again...
Results from Mini users would be welcome.
Turok:
Wow, what an easy installation now. :o GREAT!!
iPod mini 2G
Apple OS: works
rockbox (r12648): works, too
music on rockbox: oh yeah ;)
BUT: When I'm in rockbox and plug in my iPod to the USB, then the USB logo appears and after that the iPod shuts down (and I must reboot them - Menu+Select). I have to start the Apple OS to fill it with files. :-\
Any ideas?
