not that rockbox bashed IPL but that some members at the IPL forums bashed rockbox.

You shouldn't give anything about 50% of the users that posted in this topic.

ok, it's just that when I asked over there, I got the impression that "don't come here with your problems and rockbox. go away."

But yes, i shouldn't have said that IPL and RB bash eachother based off of one members posts.

No, it shouldn't require you to erase the partitions.

I need some direction on what to do... I just erased my fat 32 partition by accident in slax when I was trying to 'use the IPL tutorial to change the the primary partition.'

Oh well, I didn't have that much on there, but I would like to know what it would take to get rockbox to recognize the partition.

Rockbox should run fine as long as it's on the first Primary Fat32 partition. If you want to be extra cautious make the ext2 or ext3 partition after the Fat32 one.

When you erased your FAT32 partition, how did you recreate it?  Did you format it as FAT32, or a different FAT size (e.g. FAT16).  The ipod versions of Rockbox only support FAT32.

You have to format it with
Code: [Select]
mkfs.vfat -F 32 -S 2048 /dev/sdX2
. If bash complains that it didn't found the command try
Code: [Select]
mkdosfs -F 32 -S 2048 /dev/sdX2

i figured it out...linux formats the fat32 partition differently...what you have to do is go back into windows and right click on the drive and format as fat 32...put all the rockbox stuff back on and it will work...as well as all your music ::)
