Just one more question: The "old" instruction is made for Windows-Users only. Since I am about to switch to Linux, I tried to install rockbox on my (new) G4 using Linux. But I cant find the ipod_fw-executable. The one listed here (http://download.rockbox.org/bootloader/ipod/) doesn't seem to work, as I get the message "bash: ./ipod_fw: cannot execute binary file"

The old instructions come in three flavours - one each for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.  The ipod index page here:

has links to all three, and the Windows version of the instructions (which people seem to like to link to directly, instead of the IpodPort index page), also has links to the Linux and Mac versions.
