ipod 4g problems with rockbox
(1/1)
bzbire:
Hi, I have just installed rockbox to my 4g ipod greyscale and have had a lot of problems.
-Whenever I turn on the EQ, the song starts pausing every few seconds until I turn it off and sometimes even crashes leading me to reboot
-When I turn it on, it has been slow and songs wont play untill I reboot a few times
I am using the current build- am I doing something wrong? Should I change to the daily build?
Thanks in advance!

The EQ issue is a known issue, stemming from the fact that Rockbox is not sufficiently optimized to do the signal processing necessary for the EQ in real time.
There is also a known issue with the 4g related to frequency scaling. There is a workaround for this, which increases stability by disabling frequency scaling. If you look in the "unsupported builds" forum, there is a build by "Mikeage" which incorporates this workaround. I've seen a number of reports from 4g owners that this build increases Rockbox's stability. Take a look for that build and try it.
For more information, search for "frequency scaling bug" or similar terms.

Theres also a 4G frequency scaling patch which I believe allows it to work, though its still being tested and randomly seems to work or not work.
