iAudio x5: Rockbox USB mode broken

<< < (4/5) > >>

Arioch:
BTW, it seems to me, that when on USB mode, Rockbox can't be turned off without prior unpluggin or resetting.

Is it so, or i just didn't tried hard enough? :-)

To mee it seems like a bug.

I'd say that's the way it works. That's the way it works in the original firmware or rather, you switch between charge and diskmode - but you can't turn it off.

Arioch:
in original fw i could turn it of when on USB, then X5 turned off and re-turned on with... erghmmm... cowon original bootloafer (or how to call it?) took care of USB data and charging instead of full fw.

I want the same for Rockbox, so it could turn the device off and then let it boot again into c.o.b.

Imagine due to some hardware/software bug Rockbox thinks it is USB-connected when it is no more already. Reset ? and if i do not have pin ?
Or perhaps i just upgraded RB and do want it to clean-boot instead of being mixture of RAM-loaded old files and on-disk new files ?

I think Rockbox is to allow shutting down when on USB.
It is not serious bug, but rather than time for implementation - i see no reasons to avoid it.

Yes you are right, i wasn't thinking of the orignal firmware usbmode - i thought you meant the charge/usbmode... Sorry for that.

I always have a pin with me since i'm running beta software on my x5 - even though it's very very seldom used... (I had it when i didn't use rockbox aswell since cowons firmware was/is less stable than rockbox.)

Arioch:
no, i know that RockBox as it is now does know nothing about charging and bear with it.

I do have pin too
i have some old OGG files, perhaps encoded with some beta of libvorbis, and they make original FW hang dead.
some daily builds of X5 were quite unstable to me too about and randomly hanged (about month ago)
sometimes i chance to run ASF/WMA under RB and it really to some crazy idea tries to launch it - and sound output track hangs completely, and sometimes RB hangs too and cannot be rebooted in normal fashion :-)

But having choice between hardware reset and graceful shutdown - i'd prefer the last.
After all FAT32 is not Reiser and can be easily damaged and i have no single idea what could Rockbos do if once will be launched on corrupt FAT :-)

(On of thing terrified me in orginal FW were freezes, when i copied files from iAudio M5 via USB OtG :-) )
