Ripping DVD audio

Hi.

I'm trying to rip the soundtrack of "Interstella5555" off DVD. I've extracted the files using mpegdemux. They play fine on my GNU/Linux box but don't play under Rockbox.

While this might be a codec problem, my first thought is that I'm not ripping the files properly. In particular, I wasn't sure what codec they used, so I named the files .ac3. Would the filename extention effect Rockbox? How can I find out what codec they use?

I've ripped the audio from some other DVDs (e.g. "The Devil Rides Out") which worked fine.

Thanks,

Malcolm.

Are you sure the track is AC3 (ie Dolby) and not DTS? You should be able to check your DVD for this information (should be on the rear of the DVD case) on the encoding types of the audio track.

Aha! I checked on the internet and there are both Dolby and DTS soundtracks on the DVD. I guess I've ripped the wrong one. I'll try ripping other streams off the DVD and see whether it works.

Thanks!

Malcolm.

Yep. I ripped one of the other streams, and it worked fine. Thanks for your
help.

Malcolm.
