Rockboy Max Framerate?
« on: January 30, 2007, 12:47:13 AM »
What's the best setting to go for in the Rockboy options menu --> Max Framerate? Games usually run slow on my iPod.

Rockboy still needs quite some optimization to run realtime on all targets except Gigabeat.
There is not much you can do to achieve a better frame rate, just be sure to turn the sound off (from the Rockboy menu) and select a frame skip setting that suits you best.

Other than that you can be patient for the developers to optimize it more. ;)

Ohhh okay. Yeah, I will wait because so far, the developers have done a great job. But I was wondering what do you think would be the best setting for it to run the best?

Sheeesh!

You didn't even say which iPod you had, so how could that question ever be answered accurately?

Here are some results with my iPod video (30gb).  I used no sound and a max frameskip of 3. I also used full screen if that makes any difference.
Super mario land 40-45
Pokemon Red fluctuated from 28-45
Pokemon Gold 38 and lower.
Hope that helps you in some way.

Well, rockboy WILL always be slow the smart thing to do is to just use black and white roms.

No it won't. Once Rockboy has been properly optomised there is no reason it won't be able to run most roms at full speed.

Most roms can run at a pretty good rate but a lot of color roms are very slow 3dpool and the color pokemons... but like I said black and whites will almost always go full speed.  And like you said it will run most roms at full or near full speed.

What framerate is full speed anyway? I get between 60-70 fps on my gigabeat, but I still feel like it's lagging a bit and the audio sound like it's also lagging.
