Installed Rockbox - device no longer accessible via USB
« on: January 29, 2007, 10:36:31 PM »
I just installed Rockbox on a Toshiba Gigabeat F-60, following the directions on the wiki page.  My device now no longer is detected by my computer when I plug it in via USB.

Am I just screwed? Or is there some way to uninstall Rockbox without having access via USB?

Also, unrelated question: The screen fades to black after something like ten seconds of inactivity (I think less, actually).  I find this far too short.  I found a "sleep timer" setting, and set it significantly higher, but this seems to have had no effect.  Is it supposed to be this short (by default)? Is the "sleep timer" setting supposed to affect this? Is there some other way to set this fade out time?

Thanks.

I can't help you with the USB connection, as I don't have a gigabeat and have never had a problem with my ipod being seen (Actually, my biggest trouble was that itunes kept trying to sync it even though I've never EVER used itunes for anything other than looking at my own podcast to see comments)

However, the backlight setting is *not* the sleep timer.  The sleep timer is how long to wait before your Rockbox turns itself off (I use it every night, so the battery doesn't drain while I'm listening to it to fall asleep)

The backlight settings are in General Settings -> Display -> LCD Settings, and they all have "Backlight" in their names.  I suggest checking out the Manual, which you can get to via a link in the left hand bar over there

OK, I got it working by plugging directly into USB, rather than into the device's cradle (which is itself plugged in via USB, and which is how I normally accessed the device before installing Rockbox).

Thanks for the pointer on the backlight.
