mpeg movie player
« on: January 29, 2007, 07:14:23 PM »
i finally got mpeg videos to play on my gigabeat f40. However, the video and audio are horribly off-sync for any video that i play. Is there any way to fix this or will i just need to wait until the mpeg player is updated with audio-video sync?

as a second question... does anyone know what the buffer limit is for the gigabeat when playing videos? in other words, what is the maximum number of megabytes of an mpeg movie you can play without any problems?

It's around 25 megabytes I think.

10 minutes? Wow that mus be some low bitrate file. I can barely get past 3 minutes with some random quickly encoded music videos.

Well cartoons traditionally have few colors and you can get away with a much lower video bitrate than for, say, a music video or movie.  They also usually look fine with relatively lower frame rates.

Well a lot of cartoons are animated on twos (or in some cases on threes or even worse depending on what it originated as) so you could in theory get away with half the framerate (assuming your file doesn't already have a halved framerate) without concern.

That makes sense, never thought of it that way.
