I really don't think you should use the term "BRICKED" for a frozen, unresponsive player. Bricked is usually read as "dead", like in "only useful as a paperweight", and your headline could actually startle people; while a frozen player only needs a reset to be fully functional again. (This is, as you found out, but for the benefit of new readers, achieved by gently pressing a paperclip into the little hole under the internal mic, where it says "reset", unless you want to wait until the battery runs out...)
A frozen player is unfortunately something you will have to learn to live with now and again if you install SVN versions of Rockbox. It is, after all, bleeding edge code..... As long as it only happens occasionally I don't think the prize is too high. Otherwise, there's always the stock firmware; very limited, but probably a bit more stable......
