[NOT] BRICKED H340 on todays build. Any help?
« on: January 29, 2007, 03:56:28 PM »
I wrongly posted this here http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=7273.0 but this seems the wrong place for this post.

I'd like to add that this is not a problem with the loader, the software worked fine for half an hour. This is a problem with me doing something as a noob, like pushing buttons too fast (left riight left type of thing) during playback.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I do think that this could be a problem with todays build.

Mark.

Pressing the correct reset hole did reset it, so I'm happier now!

I really don't think you should use the term "BRICKED" for a frozen, unresponsive player. Bricked is usually read as "dead", like in "only useful as a paperweight", and your headline could actually startle people; while a frozen player only needs a reset to be fully functional again. (This is, as you found out, but for the benefit of new readers, achieved by gently pressing a paperclip into the little hole under the internal mic, where it says "reset", unless you want to wait until the battery runs out...)
A frozen player is unfortunately something you will have to learn to live with now and again if you install SVN versions of Rockbox. It is, after all, bleeding edge code..... As long as it only happens occasionally I don't think the prize is too high. Otherwise, there's always the stock firmware; very limited, but probably a bit more stable......

In fact, our posting guidelines actually prohibit the use of the term "bricked" unless the player is, in fact, bricked.  I've changed the title of this thread.
