Connect it to a *proper* charger, wait 30 mins, then try recovery mode

i have one last question while the ipod is charging i will ask this one.

my friend gave me a broken ipod nano. So i go home and connect it to my pc. it says with no backlight "ipod was very low on batery needs to charge" so it does that for a day. Then i connect to my car adapter it works take it off the adapter it doesnt turn on. I think it is a killed battery what do think.?

thanks

What exactly happens when you turn it on.

Disk Mode will always work unless there's been an actual hardware failure of some sort.

Try turning the hold switch on, then off, and then holding MENU+SELECT for about 30 seconds (being careful to keep your fingers still).

Connect it to the computer or a charger.

Turn on the Hold Switch.

Turn off the Hold Switch.

Hold Menu+Select for 30 seconds. Be VERY VERY careful not to wiggle your fingers at all. And yes, I mean a full 30 seconds.

If it doesn't work, turn the hold switch on and off again, and try holding menu+select again. Do this about 4 times.

You must do all of it, for it to definitely work. If it still doesn't do *anything* (Not even an Apple logo that quickly fades) then you probably have a hardware problem. Or are just really bad at keeping your fingers in exactly one place.
