Why are there so many <untagged> songs

hey there

i just wanted to ask why there are so many songs displayed under although i bult the tag cache properly. i already tried with rebuilding and refreshing it but nothing can be done about it. all songs are have the tag version 2.4 and are displayed properly under either iTunes, Windows Media Player and Winamp.

so please help me and tell me what to do about it!!!!!

thx ;D

That's probably because...

...the tags are missing :P

Remember that iTunes can store tags in it's own database on the PC and doesn't necessarily write them to the actual files.

Are you absolutely sure WMP and WinAmp work?

Try playing an < untagged > file, then bring up the context menu and selecting 'View ID3 info...'. This will tell you if it is just the rockbox Database or the tags themselves that are the problem.

I've also got something right at the back of my mind that says that there is something weird/screwy/generally unsupported about ID3v2.4, but it escapes me at the moment...

underoath:
hey thanks..

but my files are tagged properly^^
i'm sure with wmp11 because i put my files both in itunes and the wmp and both work...
but not that sure about winamp. i'll test it.

this thing with the ID3v2.4.. can somebody tell if i'ts supported by rockbox??
it's just weird because all of my files are tagged with this version (i converted them with iTunes..)

You still haven't tried this:

All of those 3 programs use their own internal database to tag songs. Hence you need a specific program (eg, Tag and Rename) to tag the songs.
