new WPS designer, need ideas

ok, i have a very basic WPS right now, i am trying to make a heavy metal themed WPS. right now i have only used paint.net, which isnt as good as photoshop, which i am downloading at the moment. i was wondering if  i could have some feedback and some ideas from others. i still have much to do, like add icons and stuff, mostly i just[img need images and then i can put the text where it needs to be. also i am stuck on a progress bar, i need some input from some metalheads on what i should do, thanks

Gimp is a pretty good image editor that, like Rockbox, is a GNU licensed project.  (Otherwise known as free for public use.)  mtPaint is an icon editor of sorts with the same licensing.  So have fun.

As for images, I've seen a metallic background on a wps posted in one of the galleries that would be a good start.  Then, just get ideas from your favorite album covers.  Mix and match.

update: still not done, but i have made some minor changes, the general layout is done. i still need some ideas though, i am not very artistic and would like to see this concept become a reality.any help is sure to get you credit



this wps uses a custom font, i am not positive about the final font yet, i like this one, but it is hard to read in some instances. the now playing text changes to now paused when paused, now rwding and now ffwding. if you would like to see where i am finding my fonts visit www.screensaverhell.com i would also like to thank iwantamac (sorry if thats not spelled right) for the font creator and help, along with others who have helped me.

again, i apoligize, the reason i did that was i intended to make a new post showing i made preogress on my wps, but because i coincidently used the same name for the second, diffferent wps picture, i got a notice saying that i already posted, so i modifyed my older post to explain what changes i made. i noticed that editing a post did not put it on the front page so i decided to bump it instead of re-doing my entire post. im not really trying to get people to look at my WPS jus to help me with it, and i figured i would get a response quicker if my thread was on the first page, sorry

Back To the Future theme would be very cool, you could use the flux capacitor or the date setting part of the delorean as a wps.

yes very true, the only problem is i am not very skilled with the graphics part of making a WPS, i might start the foundation of the WPS and pass it on to a willing artist here at rockbox

sure, thanks for the interest. i plan on starting sunday, i was wondering if you would be interested in helping me with another wps i am working on too although i cannot start work untill sunday because the computer i am using now is not working properly
