Simulator doesn't play audio files
xalif:
I am using VMware with the Debian image provided on this site. I have built rockbox images for the Toshiba Gigabeat using this setup and the SVN code (and they work fine on my gigabeat). However, when I build the simulator, it doesn't actually play the audio files. It just stays on 0:00 time. I am able to fast forward to later times, but it never actually plays anything. Any ideas? I saw an archived post about this, but nobody ever posted a resolution to the problem in that thread.

XavierGr:
Strange my VMware image plays audio (though it is the last version), thing is that I am not sure if I "apt-get-ed" a package to enable that myself.

I have the same problem. It could be something to do with the sound card not being accessed. I have an Audigy Platinum eX. I checked the 'bios' setting as debian boots but wasnt anything of use in there. The audio tab shows up on vmware though so if you find a fix let me know! ;)
-xavierGr: What package is ed?
xalif:
My vmware setup does provide audio by echoing characters to /dev/audio directly though. So, it has to be communicating with the soundcard just fine. If anyone knows of any packages missing or whatever...any help would be appreciated :)

On this note, has anyone else been able to use the simulator for the Toshiba Gigabeat successfully? (with audio playing in the simulator)? If so, using what setup (vmware, cygwin, etc?)
Thanks again.
