error compiling using cygwin in windows

shak:
i get an error that says:
 ../tools/configure: line 17: sed: command not found
../tools/configure: line 531 dirname: command not found
Enter target platform:
../tools/configure: line 555: cat: command not found

does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Sounds like a thoroughly incomplete cygwin install - you've not installed any development tools.

thanks for the help:) i don't know why but cygwin was working yesterday perfectly and today it's not working. I'll just reinstall

it *could* also be you've wiped out the PATH variable somehow....

ok thanks for the help, i just reinstalled and it works now
