other players
« on: January 24, 2007, 07:22:39 PM »
I tried searching and if there is anything in the forums about these I did not find it.

I bought my husbend an cheapie MP3 Mp4 player for x-mass. An I-pod was just unafordable.  He dosent like the browsing on it though. The music file system is just hard to navagate. Ive been looking for some sort of plugin that will overide the maine file sytem that navigates the music files or some such thing. It looks like Rock boxs will do that and more. I only see a few systems on the site though. All big brand stuff. Dose anyone know If the player we own will suport youre program??
Thanks!

Well, if you're going to ask if Player X is supported, you should probably mention what Player X is.

Anyway, no, only players listed as supported are supported.  If theres no mention of your player on the wiki, it means theres no port to it, and likely no one working on it (generally people create a wiki page as soon as a port is begun).

Atually I have had an real hard time with finding any help on the player. It dosent seem to have an name. Only thing the player or box says is MP4.  :(  Thanks for the answer though I was afraid of that. I thought I would ask just in case..  No one would have any clues to help me out would they?  Any player add on sites or anything? As big as the players have become I dont seem to be able to find anything on them besides I tunes.
Thanks agen.

P.S. sorry to bother with things that dont soly relate to the site.

That is typically a term people use when selling fake iPods.  It sounds like you just got a cheap, generic knock-off of an iPod.

We deal only with Rockbox related things here though so we do not know of any "player add on sites or anything".

Something like this I guess:

http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Pod-MP4-MP3-Player-PMP-FM-Video-2GB-i-Platinum-Pink_W0QQitemZ190075834454QQihZ009QQcategoryZ73839QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

If you're bored, you could open it up and see what the chips inside are.  I'd actually be curious how they're made.  However, no theres no support for them and is unlikely to ever be.

It *probably* falls under the http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=6283.0 S1MP3 umbrella, a lot of knock-off players do it seems.
