systems files missing suddenly
« on: January 20, 2007, 06:21:44 PM »
today i was using my h10 20gb as normal and i turned it off, an hour later i tired booting up the player, but it remained on the iriver splash screen, then it said systems files missing. i am completly stumped on this one, i installed the lates svn build as well. i apprecate any help, and apoligize if this is a frequent problem, or a carless mistke by me

im just guessing, but im assuming that there aree three possible causes too this. one the sharp drop in temperature, two low battery, or three and the worst case senario a problem with the hard drive itself, because all files are there, the only problem is that it seems to have trouble accesing the hard drive, even when browing the player on the computer

i do understand that you rockbox devs are busy and i actually am glad i was able to fix it myself, turns out i had to reinstall the bootloader. and yess i do know that a new bootloader is needed in order for the new rockbx builds to work, i had the new bootloader installed on the h10, but for somereason, it jus 'failed' for lack of a better term. could anyone explain yand wat exaclty what happened, happened

Well, if your player had been working properly, you turned it off, you turned it on, and it wasn't working then, and you had made NO changes to the player since the last time you turned it off, and you've had the occasional problem with teh HD in the past, my guess is the file just got corrupted. Recopying it fixed it, but there's no guarantee it'll stay fixed.

Either way, seriously, not getting help on a forum after 3 hours is somewhat expected. Most forums have a 24-hourish turn-around on receiving help, if not longer. There's no need for any sarcasm about it.
