saratoga,
i'm not sure if i would do things correctly, what are the commands involved?
I've used diff -u oldfile newfile < patch method but it didnt work .
Yeah I'm talking about actually patching the old version and then manually combining the two via copy and paste. Theres no commands involved, aside from whatever you use to launch a text editor. diff is a utility you can use to figure out what changed. Type 'man diff' if you want to use it.
saratoga, thank you for your help. It's still not working. However i've decided to try using an older svn sourcecode, patch, and then work my way up again to the latest version.
However, this command did not work
svn svn://svn.rockbox.org/rockbox/trunk co -D YYYY-MM-DD rockbox
I got this command off the "UsingSVN" guide from the site.
EDIT: Changed the title because i have several other problems.
Sarotoga or anyone else who's capable of doing so, if you don't mind, can you please update the brightness patch so that it can be used with the new source code? I think i'm almost giving up, i've tried all sorts of ways but it just would not work. I guess only those who have a programming background would be able to do so.
