Rockbox H3xx: Issue with Large Databases?
(1/1)
Ruins:
I am having issues with initializing the rockbox database. I am using the 17 Jan 2007 build on a H3xx iriver. I have also tried the 31 Dec 2006 build, with similar failed results.
Here are the details:
- With around 800 songs, a mixture of mp3, ogg and flac, the database builds in a couple of minutes.
- Adding the rest of my songs, increasing the total number to 2400 or so, a database update will hang the player. At first, the drive spins and everything seems fine. Then, the interface freezes (clock stops, no button response etc) and the player hangs. I have waited for around 90 minutes, with no response.
- I have also tried re-initializaing the database, using a fresh copy of the .rockbox folder, with similar results.
When the player hangs, it emits a soft, high pitch noise (fan?). All hard drive spinning stops, but the player still consumes power (I looked at the battery levels).
Any suggestions or solutions would be much appreciated.
(I know how to reset the player, so I can restart it. But the database remains the same, which is the problem)
betacub:
I get the same thing with 3/13 and 3/21 builds on an H320. I believe it hangs at exactly 1837. This happens on initialization of the database, so I haven't tried updating yet.
There's also a secondary issue where part of the status text (something like "Building data: x files Hit stop to return") shows on the edges. I can see a "Bu" on the left and "op" on the right.
nls:
If it stops at the same place every time, it seems that you have a file that braks the database.
Try to start over and add back music in smaller portions to narrow down on which file(s) it stops and report it either here or on the tracker.
