ipod hardware equalizer not working?

(1/1)

fjf:
Maybe I am missing something, but i just disabled the software equalizer and I am playing with the hardware equalizer settings, but I cannot hear any difference enabling or disabling it.  I am using the ipod video build 20070114.  Any hints?.

Thanks

Febs:
Only the low shelf and high shelf filters are functional.  The three peaking filters don't do anything (and never have).

pbcnx:
are the 3 other peak filters not supported by the ipod?

They should be, but the Rocbox driver for the Wolfson codec used in the iPod 5th generation is based upon a similar (published) codec, and not the actual one in the player.  This is a beautiful example of the pain caused by hardware without public documentation.

Llorean:
What this means is that either
A) We aren't implementing them properly (because it's a different chip)
or
B) They aren't present on that version.
