ipodscanner shows no ipods found

seedsca:
Ok so I have a 3rd G 40g ipod.
got the daily build file rockbox-ipod3g-20070117.zip
made the directory C:\rockbox
unzipped the .rockbox folder and rockbox.ipod files to the ipod's root dir
downloaded bootloader-ipod3g.ipod and ipodpatcher.exe
in a dos prompt from C:\rockbox I ran ipodpatcher.exe --scan

all this while in disk mode and itunes being closed. I've run the ipod updater to start fresh and put one mp3 on the ipod to have an iTunesDB file under F:\iPod_Control\iTunes

all this gets me:
[ERR]  No ipods found.

ipodpatcher v 0.5 windowsXP sp2

Any help?

GodEater:
Doing a quick forum search for ipodpatcher (not ipodscanner) and 3G turned up this thread :

Note linuxstb's reply.

Galgor:
I'm having this same exact problem. I noted the replies in the thread mentioned, but it's a bit cryptic.

--- Quote ---For now, you'll need to use the old install instructions linked to from the IpodPort wiki page.

Ok, I'm at the wiki page but it's rather confusing. Where are the "old install instructions"?

GodEater:
While I commend you on your diligent search of the forums (so few people bother - so thanks for that!), the post you've found is SO old now that the instructions it refers to no longer exist.

If believe there is support in ipodpatcher to find 3G ipods now - but only in the svn copy, not in the redistributable one we have linked in the manual at the moment. (Correct me if I'm wrong linuxstb!)

So you either have to check it out and compile it yourself, or wait just a bit longer (a week or so) untill it's ready for primetime.

Galgor:
Great. Thanks for the reply!
