iPod Patcher Number?

<< < (2/2)

Mutant_Bunny:
thanks and i will try that.... i will post an edit w/ results shortly.

EDIT:
i don't get it... where do i put the bootloader and the ipod patcher? Do i put those in the ipod or on the computer?

when i installed rockbox there was some kind of error and when i turn my ipod on it has 4 sections :
calendars
notes
contacts
rockbox

rockbox has a x through the icon next to it. when i click on it, some errror comes up. wtf do i do? or rather, wtf did i do rong?

Llorean:
You're in Rockbox now... the "x" is just what the icon looks like for Rockbox.ipod.

Now read the manual portions on how to use the software, because you're in it.

You put them in the c:\rockbox folder (assuming you are in Windows).  This what the new instructions say:

--- Quote ---The following instructions refer to the “installation folder.” For Windows users, the “installation folder” is a folder in the root (top-level) of the C: drive called \rockbox (you will obviously need to create this folder yourself). For Mac OS X and Linux users, the “installation folder” is assumed to be the Desktop folder. Note that the bootloader installation files should be saved onto your computer’s hard disk, not on your Ipod.

   1. First, download the ipodpatcher tool to your installation folder. You can download the ipodpatcher tool for your operating system at http://download.rockbox.org/bootloader/ipod/ipodpatcher/.

   2. Next, download the following file to the installation folder:

      http://download.rockbox.org/bootloader/ipod/bootloader-ipodnano.ipod
--- End quote ---

Please let me know if you have any suggestions as to how we could make that portion of the instructions more clear.

Mutant_Bunny:
i think the whole thing would be easier with screenshots...

but i still dont get why rockbox won't work? and no it's not a -1 error

Llorean:
Sure, fine, *ignore* where I told you that you were IN Rockbox, and that it was working.
