Bug? Strange iPod Scroll Wheel Behaviour
(1/1)
Toxikator:
Video 30GB iPod, the scroll weird has the following odd bug:
When first started, I'll click "artist" in the database and the scroll is very responsive.
However, after a short amount of time (usually it occurs after entering a folder and then exiting) this responsiveness stops. The scroller moves much slower, almost as if the number of clicks that it takes to move one item is increased...
Is this just a byproduct of something with RAM or something? Or is this a bug in the build? (I'm using Senab's newest, but I'm not sure if the issue is related, as I seem to remember it happening before I updated)...
???
Toxikator:
Just as a followup, the problem disappears when a song is playing/paused, but once you stop playback with the long pause it comes back again...
Flid:
It's a known problem. Something to do with CPU boosting. When Rockbox is reading the harddrive and buffering music (or folder structures etc), the processor is "boosted" giving a smooth responsive click-wheel action. When the buffering stops, the CPU boost is turned off... making everything slow and laggy. That's my understanding anyway. I'm sure someone will clarify with greater detail.
GodEater:
I believe Slasheri has made some changes in this area recently. Not sure if they've been commited to SVN or not yet though.
Toxikator:
That would explain why the "disk" icon makes it work better... when that goes, it goes.
Cool, thanks for the clarification.
