:)Thanks for your quick reply.    Both solutions worked well for me.
Unfortunately I have hit the next hurdle. pressing the hammer and screwdriver icon left of 'Bootloader installation instructions'  I get the message ' Unsupported Bootloader Install method'.   I started the rbutil program from the mac HD, as unmounting closed the access to the ipod, (I also tried starting rbutil on the ipod and unmounted than - which makes little sense though).  All resulting in the above error message.
(A further note, the ipod has been ordered from Apple, for windows PC setup.)

Any idea what to do? Thanks

Hey guys, been a long time since I checked back in on Rockbox...

Anyhow, I hadn't updated my ipod 5g (30 gig) since last year maybe.  I noticed that the rockbox.ipod is now inside the .rockbox folder, interesting...

Anyhow.  I deleted everything off my ipod, copied the current build into the root.  Boot into rockbox and all looks normal (icons in the menus now?  nice!).  However, once I try to play any file, it freezes and I have to do a menu+select reboot.

Any ideas on what this could be?

EDIT: sorry, apparently in my absense I got all noobed up and forgot how to use the search function before posting questions.  *sigh*  ::)

I found my answer here.  I needed to update my bootloader.

Hello when I installed everything correctly and unplugged my iPod I got this error
Rockvox boot loader
Version: 1.1
IPOD version: 0x00C0005
SST55LD019K-45-C-MWE
Partition 1: 0x0B 1866 MB
LOADING ROCKBOX....
ERROR!
Can't load rockbox.ipod!
File not found
HOLD MENU+SELECT to
reboot then SELECT+PLAY
for disk mode

I downloaded, extracted the most recend build, and ran the bootloader , but it doesn't work?
I am sorry if this is just a noob question.
