As I said above, this means you didn't follow the instructions in section 2.2.3 of the manual to install a Rockbox build.

Plug the ipod into the charger, turn the hold switch on and then off again, and perform the reset procedure (press the Menu and Select buttons simultaneously). Once it resets, let it charge for at least a couple of hours.

if you can help then hurray.

Yes we can help. No , it's not dead.

ok the screens still black so i have no idea if the reset worked but i did it and "directly" connected it to the comp and i guess i'll just leave it there for like a week and see if it worked.

How was it connected before? Through some sort of hub? That may be your problem. On those occasions where I have seen a low battery screen, it's usually taken about 10 minutes to get out of the low battery state and into the normal charging routine. However, I have 5G; the Nano may be different.

umm i just used a normal cable and connected it right into the usb port right under where you insert a disk. I have a 80 gig video (sry didn't know if u were referring to me with the nano)
edit* theres another thread started thats sounds similar to my situation.
edit* theres another, they all seem to be with the ipod video
i think it is necissary to warn people about this or somehow stop the build from being accessed

Well, these forums exist as a warning to people if they bother to read them. However you're in a very small minority of people that are having issues. We don't hear at all from the vast majority of people who install Rockbox because mostly it just works.
