I'm confident it needs investigation. You do not add Rockbox bug workarounds to this. You seek to fix the bugs.

If I have more time the next time it happens, I'll be glad to track it down for ya! :)

You haven't installed the Rockbox build to the right place.

After updating, RockBox freezes at the start (logo) page
Delete or rename your config (insert exact name) file in the .rockbox directory and reboot.

I have a similar problem, however, Rockbox freezes BEFORE it gets to the start screen.

I'm using iPodLoader 2.4, then i choose Rockbox and wait for that little green bar to load up. But once it does, it freezes.

:(

Loader 2.4 is NOT SUPPORTED as well as the fact that it does not properly initialize hardware so it CANNOT work with newer versions of Rockbox.

Please, don't ask questions about unsupported software. Rockbox is a whole (bootloader + firmware) and the bootloader has to set things up the right way. If you're using any other bootloader instead of ours, it's the same as using an unsupported build, which is why there's a thread for iPL's loader in the unsupported builds forum.

Hi,

I'm really impressed with the features offered by rockbox and i'm siting all night to make it right but just dont go..

 Ipod Video 80Gb 5.5g Apple ver.1.2

I bought this ipod 4 days ago the first thing i want to do is to play the 12 or 14..cracked games on it (downloaded from *places which can be considered "seedy"*) but the main problem was that
some of these guys achieve something like played or not played these games, and for me i cannot even load my firmware to
back it up it freezes ,using ipodwizard-v1.3-release or v.1.2 and when i load 5.5.bin file to write to ipod it is always the same ERROR ..I was doing all this in disk mode whit aplle v.1.1 i've updated my ipod before working whit .rockbox

So i give away the games, when i heard about the .rockbox thing i've read the manual over and over again so i decided to modify first whit manual instr. ,done ever. put ipod in disk mode, created "..rockbox"folder in root of my "O" Apple drive then use IpodPatcher 2.0 but it did not recognise my drive.."scaning disk devices..No Ipods Found, aborting, so i think to my self to give a try to rbutilqt-v1.0.2,i delete the folder ".rockbox" then start with the utility who install everything from web, exept the bootloader i've try Complete Inst/ then Small inst. nothing worked for me...

So i think to my self this is not a usb cable problem beacuse i've upgraded allready ,transfer files a lot,rbutilqt-v1.0.2 installs everything exept bl etc., this is a firmware or software problem ,or beacuse i'm new to all this i think i have an
Ipod Video 80Gb 5.5g beacuse:

Ipod Video 80Gb - it is Ipod whit 80gb disk,it plays video (this is very stupid) :-)
5.5g - i've read somewhere that 5g dont have search menu under music main meni and i do

   Right Or Wrong Deathly ??!??

This is everything i done whit my ipod for 4 days when i bought,i think it is sometnig very stupid small thing that i miss please help

   Thank U

One question : What colour is your ipod? Black or White ? If it's neither - you don't own a 5.5G, or a 5G - but a "Classic" or 6G.

One statement : Do NOT use our forums to talk about obtaining pirated or cracked software.

Got it sorry for the problems :-)

You can distinguish the iPod classic from the iPod (5th generation) by the last three digits of the serial number. The iPod classic serial number's last three digits will be one of the following: Y5N, YMU, YMV, and YMX.

 http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61688

 Mine is YMV

 Thank U .rockbox

Which means of course you're out of luck - and Rockbox will not work on it. Sorry.

i know this might have already happened to someone else, but its late and right now i just want to know what happened if anyone can help~~

Ive got a 5.5 gen ipod 80g, and i installed rockbox manually (because the automatic way couldnt download rockbox/ and couldnt install the bootloader...dunno why). So after installing and what not i start up rockbox on my ipod, and im happy cos it works. i look through all the settings and stuff, but i havent done the disk initialization yet.

i find the alarm wake-up setting, which i find oh so fascinating and decide to set it to a couple minutes ahead. Then i turn it off, to see if it will turn on and play. i wait a couple of minutes and nothing happens. so i go to try and turn it on...nothing happens. which i assume means it is dead. and i can hear a constant clicking noise from it when i hold it to my ear ...(not sure if it was always there).

Would anyone be able to provide me some possible explanations or some way of reviving my ipod? would be great. thanks~~
