Windows Not Reconizing -AND- Original Firmware not working
« on: January 14, 2007, 01:31:12 AM »
WIndows will not reconize the device when its plugged in, and on Rockbox firmware.

When I tried to boot up using apple firmware, *using the hold function*, it will just keep rebooting and rebooting, until I take hold off.

 I have a 6GB 2Gen Ipod mini

Windows won't recognize your iPod when rockbox is loaded, you need to enable disc mode to do that.  To do this on various iPods including the mini, check out this:

As far as booting into apple's firmware, just restart your ipod (hold down the menu and middle (select) button) then hold down the menu button when the apple logo comes up.

What does the device do when you plug it in?  It should trigger a USB picture to come up on the device and reboot into disk mode.

Also, does the device boot into Rockbox?

Reboot with MENU + SELECT and then hold SELECT + PLAY to get into disk mode manually, as you could have figured out by looking in the manual, searching these forums, or even searched on google.

There are two ways of booting into the original firmware.  He used the easiest way.

Ok, Im pretty sure I've tried these, but maybe not exactly as you have told me.

However, I now have another problem,  the battery completly drained, and now when I plug it into my computer, it will not recharge. I tried using the car charger as well, and it will still not turn on.  The USB Symbol will not come up when plugged in.

The low battery symbol came on for me in the morning, when I went to turn it on, but it wont do anything now.

Ok, the 3rd problem, with no screen showing, is fixed. I just held down Menu and Select, even though nothing was showing, it still rebooted.

It still had the constant reboot, when trying to load into apple firmware, however I did get it into Diskmode, and my computer reconizes it. Thanks
