Another bug in iPod`s buffer?
« on: January 11, 2007, 12:47:23 PM »
♪
Sorry, I'm just reporting now, but this happens from several months ago till today.

I select a 10 tracks album to play. No shuffle and no repeat.

Rockbox fills 5 tracks on audio buffer and starts to play. OK.

Then I keep mounting the playlist, selecting another album and inserting LAST. While this, Rockbox is still playing the first song

But...Rockbox drains the 5 tracks in buffer instead of use until the need to rebuffer. And rebuffer from zero again.

So, while I'm mounting the sequence, Rockbox buffers and rebuffers as I'm inserting LAST.

Why??? I think the normal process is to play this 5 tracks and then rebuffer to the nexts.

PS: Sorry about my english.

This is not a bug. Playback will rebuffer whenever the current playlist is modified, regardless of how you modify it (even toggling shuffle on/off). That's because there's not way to tell if the buffered tracks have been changed.

Thanks, lowlight.

So, I suppose that the best way to save battery power is starting just one album, waiting this current album ends, and then starting a new one? Or depends? Cause this way, they access the buffer and not fills completely when there's no next tracks after the current album's end?

What drains more battery power? The access to HD, or the time spending filling buffer?

Sorry if I can`t being clear on my explanation. My english is not enough.

Thanks again.
