Falling Back to Original
« on: January 23, 2007, 12:39:02 AM »
Hi all,

I have the latest AU firmware and i was wondering if the dual boot option is available.

Every time i try a press the "Menu' button the gigabeat hangs on "Restore ..." screen. I can get back by restoring it with the "+" however i have to load the dat file every time i want to switch between them. Is there any options, or is this the way this is intended.

One more question even though its a no but just wondering if the .sat will be ever readable in rockbox?

I know awhile back I needed the old firmware to give me back certain MP3's that were SAT's so what I did was I renamed the Rockbox FWIMG01.DAT to something else and renamed the original firmware FWIMG01.DAT.ORIG back to FWIMG01.DAT. When I rebooted the Giabeat I was back in the original firmware.
To go back to Rockbox just rename the files back.

No, SAT's will never ever be supported by Rockbox. Besides I read in a medical journal SAT's are for chumps and with continued exposure can cause a furious sneezing fit.

JVD: Hilarious!

mootmaina: I second the procedure stated above.  I had to do this to test the use of Napster To-Go functionality.  If I need to use a Play-For-Sure service, I just rename the FWIMG01.DAT to FWIMG01.DAT.RXBX and my FWIMG01.DAT.ORIG to FWIMG01.DAT.  Everything works.  (I have the hacked JP v3 firmware. on my F60.)
