Display backlight turns on!!
« on: January 10, 2007, 11:27:32 AM »
Hi!

I'm wondering if i can stop Rockbox from turning on the backlight everytime a new track comes up. It's really draining my batteries!!!

Btw. i have a Ipod 30Gb G5.5, rockbox-20070110 build

There's an option in general settings->display->LCD Settings->Caption Backlight ...  Turn it to off. That's the one that turns on the backlight whenever the currently playing song changes.

Actually, I've been wondering if there was a feature similar to this one. I can use this with my car charger in my car and if I have shuffle or something, I, or a passenger, can change the song without listening to it yet.

Yes, and it's a great setting. One I was very glad was implemented. It's the little tweaks like this that make Rockbox so special. My iPod sitting on my desk at work glows when the next track starts, so that I can immediately see what the track is, without having to lean over and touch a button to bring the backlight on. I used to have this set-up in the car aswell... but since getting my Ipod integrated and charged via the cradle... the backlight stays on permanently ("when plugged in"... another great "setting"). The backlight coming on for 3 seconds every 5 minutes is hardly a battery killer ::)

The Caption Backlight is also disabled by default, so if you had it on, you enabled it. I strongly suggest you check settings in the manual *before* turning them on.
