I Need Help. Can't Seem to Figure Out Rockboy
« on: January 09, 2007, 06:31:01 PM »
Okay, i don't totally understand this rockboy thing. From what i understand it is something called a "viewer" and can't actually be seen when you go to the browse plug-ins page on rockbox. Apparently your supposed to see your roms in the Rockbox main menu (where all the files are on your ipod) and select the .gb or .gba rom and have it work. But when i do this i don't see any roms and i know i have a .gb and .gba (and don't worry there leagel) rom there in the root directory. So am i missing the viewer or something? I thought it came with rockbox so thats why i'm confused. Also, if for some reason i'm missing the viewer can someone point me to a place to actually download it this isn't the wiki. Because i cannot find the download link on there.

Many thanks!

Which ipod do you have?  Rockboy only works on the Photo/Color and Video.

I know this is unrelated, but where did you find rockboy? I can't find it for my video ipod. If you can give a link, that'll be cool

Dude i know how you fell it took me forever to find rockboy. However that was because i was on a nano and i didn't know it was unsupported. Rockboy.rock is included as a viewer in the release of Rockboy for your Video iPod. If you go download the file, extract it, and go into the viewers folder it's in there.  ;)

oh. Thanks anyway. I assume that you need to put in your own roms, right?

...How do I put ROMS in my ipod (If it's an easy answer, don't be brutal. I'm tech-retarded :P)

There is a very good description of how to do this in the Plug-Ins chapter of the Rockbox Manual.

Try the original super mario brothers.  It works very well speedwise for me.  Also make sure that you have the sound turned to OFF.
